About Proxibid

Proxibid was incorporated in July 2001 in Omaha, Nebraska, by a group of founders including Joe Petsick. It grew from webcasting local auctions into a national marketplace. It has well over 150 employees and handles billions of dollars in goods each year.

Independent auction companies list their sales on Proxibid. Buyers join live auctions through a streaming bidding app or bid in timed online sales. Each seller sets its own terms, premium, payment rules and pickup or shipping. Proxibid sends winning notices for timed sales, and sellers usually email invoices within 48 hours.

What it costs

Proxibid does not set the buyer's premium. Each seller sets it per auction, and it appears on the auction page.

WhatCost
Buyer's premiumA percentage of the winning bid set by each seller. Some sales have none.
Online premiumSome sellers add a few points for online bidders. One 2026 sale charged 10% on the first $2,000 and 2% on the rest, plus 4% for online bids, so 14% and 6%.
Card surchargeSet by the seller. One sale charged 3% on card payments.
Sales taxCharged on the winning bid plus the premium.
ShippingSet by the seller. Some items are pickup only.
Proxibid fee to buyersNone charged directly. Proxibid charges sellers, who may pass part of that on.

A worked example: under the 14% and 6% online premium above, a $10,000 winning bid carries a $760 premium ($280 on the first $2,000 and $480 on the rest), for $10,760 before tax and shipping.
