About Gooding Christie's
Gooding & Company was founded in 2003 by David Gooding in Santa Monica, California. Christie's agreed to buy the company in 2024, and it now trades as Gooding Christie's. It is the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It holds several records for the highest prices paid for certain makes.
Its main live sales are held at Pebble Beach in August and at Amelia Island in March, with a London sale in Europe and a New York sale in November 2026. It also runs online-only sales under the Geared Online name. Online bidding at live sales now runs through Christie's LIVE.

What it costs
These are the buyer costs in Gooding Christie's 2026 U.S. conditions of sale.
| What | Cost |
|---|---|
| Buyer's premium, vehicles at U.S. live sales (2026) | 12% of the hammer price up to $250,000 |
| Buyer's premium above $250,000 (2026) | 10% of the amount over $250,000 |
| Buyer's premium, online-only sales (2026) | 10% of the final bid |
| Automobilia (2026) | 25% of the final bid |
| Document fee | $80 per vehicle at California live sales and online-only sales |
| Bidder registration fee | None published |
| Removal to storage, New York Nov 2026 | $600 per car, $300 per motorcycle |
| Storage after the collection deadline, New York 2026 | $50 per lot per day |
| Late payment interest | Up to 18% a year on the unpaid amount |
A worked example: a $400,000 car at a California live sale pays 12% on the first $250,000 ($30,000) and 10% on the next $150,000 ($15,000), so it costs $445,000 plus the $80 document fee, tax and shipping.
