About SCP Auctions

David Kohler started the business in 1979 as a card shop in Orange County, then known as SportsCards Plus. It still runs from Laguna Niguel, California. From 2001 to 2007 it co-branded sales with Sotheby's. It has sold a T206 Honus Wagner card, a 1920 Babe Ruth Yankees jersey and the 1857 Laws of Base Ball documents.

SCP holds seasonal Premier auctions online, with a buy-now marketplace and private sales between them. Each auction ends on a set night, then moves into extended bidding where each lot closes after 30 minutes with no new bid. Since 2014 it has also sold several museum collections, such as the Helms and Breitbard collections.
