Business Liquidation & Bankruptcy auctions: what the numbers say

Most of them are on City of Pittsburgh, Proxibid and GovDeals. The biggest sellers at the moment are City of Pittsburgh, Virginia, Commonwealth of - Darbytown, State of Arkansas and Indiana University. The next to close is 5x LOT of Sierra Wireless AirLink MP70 LTE-A Pro WiFi 4G LTE Cat 12 1104073 3x3 at $99.

Over the past year the UX Search sold archive recorded 2,668 closed business liquidation & bankruptcy sales, with a middle hammer price of $240 and a range from $1 to $113,500. By state, California ran about $223 (254 sales), Georgia ran about $80 (172 sales) and Ohio ran about $188 (162 sales). The buyer's premium, sales tax and pickup are on top of the hammer price, and each sale on this page links to the listing it came from.

Prices at government auction follow the seller, not the item: a state fleet that serviced a truck on schedule sells it for more than a county that ran it into the ground, and a sale that closes at 2 PM on a Tuesday draws fewer bidders than one that closes Sunday night. The listing's photos, the seller's name and the location tell you most of what you need; the sold prices on this page tell you the rest.

Auction sites for business liquidations

UX Search links to these auction sites and is not affiliated with them. Bidding, payment and pickup happen on each site, under its own rules.

Before you bid

  • Count the fees. Buyer’s premiums and documentation fees vary by auction. Check each site’s terms before you bid.
  • Check hours and records. Look for hour-meter readings, service records and photos of wear points such as pins, bushings, tracks and tires.
  • See it run if you can. Many equipment sales have inspection days. If you can’t go, hire an inspector.
  • Plan the haul. Heavy equipment may need a permit load and a lowboy. Get a shipping quote before you bid.
