There are 1,440 electronics & computer auctions open right now across 43 states, with the most in California (147), Tennessee (132), Texas (76), Florida (74) and Washington (60). Most of them are on GovDeals, Proxibid and Public Surplus. The biggest sellers at the moment are Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Medicine and Surgery, Knoxville, University of Tennessee and Lee County School District. The next to close is Lot of 22 Servers (Hard Drives Removed) (429-41) at $1,125.
Over the past year the UX Search sold archive recorded 1,435 closed electronics & computer sales, with a middle hammer price of $170 and a range from $1 to $99,000. By state, California ran about $186 (139 sales), Washington ran about $36 (132 sales) and Indiana ran about $160 (123 sales). The buyer's premium, sales tax and pickup are on top of the hammer price, and each sale on this page links to the listing it came from.
Prices at government auction follow the seller, not the item: a state fleet that serviced a truck on schedule sells it for more than a county that ran it into the ground, and a sale that closes at 2 PM on a Tuesday draws fewer bidders than one that closes Sunday night. The listing's photos, the seller's name and the location tell you most of what you need; the sold prices on this page tell you the rest.
UX Search shows 1,440 open right now in 43 states, most in California, Tennessee and Texas, on GovDeals, Proxibid and Public Surplus. Each listing links to the official sale.

Yes. Government surplus auctions are open to the public. You register on the platform that runs the sale, usually for free; some sales ask for a card on file or a deposit. Pickup is usually in person at the seller's location.
Last updated October 27, 2026 at 3:37 PM ET. Live counts come from the UX Search index, which reads the government auction platforms every 15 minutes; sold prices are real hammer prices from the UX sold archive over the past year. UX Search is independent and never takes a bid; bidding, payment and pickup happen on the platform that runs each sale.
Computers, phones, TVs, cameras and IT equipment sell at government surplus, returns and liquidation auctions. These are the sites that sell them.
Most of the electronics at government auction come from the same place: an agency replaced its computers on schedule and the old ones went to surplus. That means lots of identical business laptops, desktops and monitors, three to six years old, often sold in pallets of ten or twenty rather than one at a time, along with servers, network switches, printers, projectors, phones and tablets. School districts and universities are the biggest sellers, and state surplus sites and GovDeals carry most of it.
Hard drives are usually removed or wiped before sale, so a computer may arrive without a drive or an operating system, and phones and tablets can be locked to the previous owner's account; the listing says which. Televisions, cameras and audio gear turn up from police property rooms and seized-property sales, where they are sold as is. The prices below are what these items actually sold for at government auction, which is the best guide to what a lot is worth.
