Zachys Auctions
Zachys sells wine at auction in lots that may be a single bottle, a case of one wine or a mixed group. Sales run as live auctions, where a lot closes when the hammer falls, and as timed online auctions called zCollections, which close at a set end time. Bids can be placed online, as absentee maximum bids, by phone or in person, and online bidding is open before and during live sales. Warehouses are in Port Chester, New York, and Hong Kong.
How buying works
- Registration: auctions are open to everyone, but bidding needs an account with billing and shipping addresses, phone numbers and a valid credit card.
- Buyer's premium: 25% is added to the hammer price, plus tax. Credit card payments carry a 2% processing fee; bank wire is also accepted.
- Timed sales: a bid in the last five minutes extends bidding by five minutes.
- Pickup and shipping: wines are usually ready 7–14 days after a sale. Pickup requires full payment and at least 72 hours' notice, and ground, air and temperature-controlled shipping are offered. New York storage is free for 90 days after the auction.
