Washington DNR Timber Auctions
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources sells timber from the more than 2.4 million acres of forested state trust lands it manages. Revenue from these sales supports K-12 schools, universities, state facilities and local governments. Sales are offered at auction and listed by date, county and estimated value, in three groups: larger board sales, smaller region sales and federal sales.
How buying works
- DNR publishes an auction book for each month's sales, along with a PDF for each individual sale showing its volume and estimated value.
- Bidding procedures and required forms, including statewide and per-sale bid bond forms, are posted on DNR's bidding procedures page.
- Bid forms cannot be submitted electronically; they must be delivered in a sealed bid envelope.
Good to know
- Past auction results, bid records and auction books, along with sale maps and shapefiles, are kept on DNR's file sharing site.
- Most sales are certified under forest certification programs, noted on each listing.
