University Archives
University Archives is an auction house in Wilton, Connecticut, selling rare autographs, manuscripts, letters, documents, books and photographs. Catalogs typically span presidents and first ladies, the Revolutionary and Civil War eras, military history, science and space, literature, entertainment, music and sports, along with maps and paper money.
How buying works
- Ways to bid: auctions are held live, with bidding in person, by phone, by absentee bid, or online through the company's own site and partner platforms. Online bidders register at least a full day ahead, and a credit card is required to bid.
- Buyer's premium: 25% of the hammer price, or 28% through LiveAuctioneers, plus sales tax on most domestic invoices.
- Payment is due within 5 calendar days of the invoice; after that, the card on file is charged.
- Shipping is handled in-house worldwide, mostly by FedEx with signature and insurance, within about 10 business days after payment clears. Pickup in Wilton is available on weekdays.
Good to know
- All lots are guaranteed authentic with no time limit; a challenge needs written opinions from two independent experts. Otherwise sales are as is.
