How buying works
- Ways to bid: in person with a paddle, by phone through Swann staff, by absentee bid from any online lot page, or live through the Swann app, the Swann Live desktop platform or Invaluable.
- Buyer's premium on purchases made directly with Swann is 27% of the hammer price up to $100,000, 22% of the portion from there to $1,000,000, and 12% above that. Purchases through a third party such as Invaluable carry an additional premium.
- Sales tax and shipping are added on top.
- Reserve: the minimum acceptable bid is half the low estimate.
- Invoices are generated about an hour after the sale; purchases cannot be collected until the auction ends.
