StorageTreasures
StorageTreasures lists self-storage auctions, both online and live, with alerts and searchable listings. Most units are lien units, posted by storage operators after a tenant stops paying rent, under their state's lien laws. Others are non-lien or manager's special sales from facilities or private sellers, and some are charity units whose proceeds are shared among charities.
How buying works
- Account: create a buyer account and add a credit card before bidding. Max Bid raises bids automatically in $10 steps, and a bid cannot be removed.
- Fees: a buyer premium of 9% to 18%, depending on membership, plus a purchase deposit of up to 10% that comes off the sale price. The card is charged automatically on winning.
- At the facility: schedule an appointment, bring the invoice and the balance due in the payment method it shows, plus a cleaning deposit, usually in cash.
- Clean-out: empty the unit within the required time; the cleaning deposit is refunded once the unit is emptied and broom swept.
Good to know
- Failing to clean out a unit can lead to a "No Show" mark and account suspension.
