SCA Auctions
SCA (Salvage Car Auctions) is an online broker that gives the public access to IAA vehicle auctions without a dealer's license. Its listings include wrecked, lightly damaged, repairable, salvage-title and clean-title vehicles from insurers, rental and finance companies, banks and government surplus. SCA is not owned by or affiliated with IAA, and buyers purchase vehicles from SCA rather than from IAA.
How buying works
- Registration: a free account plus an uploaded government-issued ID, phone number and address.
- Membership: Basic is free; Premier ($199 a year) and Expert ($549 a year) add live bidding and in-person previews at IAA branches.
- Deposit: a fully refundable security deposit of $1,000 or 15% of the intended bid, whichever is higher. A $1,000 deposit allows one vehicle at a time with a maximum bid of $6,600.
- Bidding: live bidding, pre-bids that bid automatically up to a set maximum, or Buy It Now on eligible vehicles.
- Payment and shipping: SCA emails an invoice with wire-transfer instructions and offers domestic and international shipping.
