How buying works

• Auction formats: Signature and similar catalog auctions take bids online, by phone, by mail and live during the event; weekly internet auctions are online-only.
• Proxy bids: registered bidders enter a secret maximum online, and the system bids for them up to that amount. Internet proxy bidding closes shortly before a live session begins.
• Live bidding: once a live session opens, bidding continues on Heritage Live, where proxy maximums compete against live bids.
• Payment: invoices are due when the auction session closes or when presented. Unpaid invoices may be voided after 7 days for Select auctions or 14 days for Signature auctions.
