Hart Davis Hart
Hart Davis Hart auctions fine and rare wines, with several multi-day sales a year. Bids can be placed as absentee bids, live online through its bidding site or free mobile app, or by phone when arranged before the sale. Its warehouse, the Delaware Cellar, is in New Castle, Delaware, and its conditions cover auctions held in Delaware and Illinois.
How buying works
- Registration: an account needs an email, shipping and billing addresses, a phone number and a valid credit card, which receives a $1,000 pre-authorization that is then voided. New bidders are encouraged to register at least 48 hours before a sale. Buyers must be 21 or older.
- Buyer's premium: 19.5% of the hammer price, plus applicable tax.
- Payment: due when the emailed invoice arrives, by wire, ACH, check, money order, BitPay or card. Card payments are capped at $25,000 per invoice with a 2.5% surcharge, and late fees apply after 21 days.
- Pickup: Hart Davis Hart does not ship alcohol. Paid lots are collected from the Delaware warehouse by appointment made two business days ahead, or the buyer arranges a shipper.
