GovEase
GovEase is a Mississippi-based online auction platform for county tax lien and tax deed sales. Counties hold their sales online through GovEase instead of at the courthouse, and the site lists live and upcoming auctions in states including Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Indiana and others.
How buying works
- Account and county registration: bidders create one GovEase account, then register separately for each county auction. Each county sets its own registration dates and documents, which are uploaded or e-signed in the portal.
- Approval comes from the county, not GovEase. Some counties set a bidder's approved dollar amount, for example from a bank letter.
- Bidding method depends on the state. Alabama tax lien auctions, for example, are interest-rate bid-downs: the lowest accepted interest rate wins, and the buyer gets a lien, not the property.
- Payment in most Alabama counties goes to the county tax office; some counties take payment through the GovEase portal.
Good to know
- GovEase publishes state-specific bidder training and help.
