GoDaddy Auctions
GoDaddy Auctions is the domain-name aftermarket run by the registrar GoDaddy. It sells expired domains that their owners did not renew, domains GoDaddy prices from its own valuation, and names listed by their owners for offers or a Buy Now price.
How buying works
- Membership: bidding on expired and value-priced auctions requires a paid GoDaddy Auctions membership. Making an offer on an owner's listing does not.
- Expired auctions: a domain goes to auction 26 days after it expires and runs for 10 days. Names with no bids move to a 5-day closeout where the Buy Now price drops each day.
- Bidding: proxy bids are binding and cannot be cancelled, and late bids can extend the auction. Unverified accounts are limited to two bids totaling $1,500.
- Payment: winners of expired auctions must pay within 48 hours. Non-payment loses the domain and suspends the membership.
Good to know
- The former owner can still renew the domain until someone bids on it.
