Fortuna Auction
Fortuna is a New York City auction house specializing in fine, estate and antique jewelry, along with watches. It holds monthly jewelry and watch auctions plus two signature sales a year, in summer and fall, for rarer pieces. Its office is on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and visits are by appointment. It also buys jewelry outright and offers free valuations to people looking to consign.
How buying works
- Registration: free. After signing up, bidders are asked by email for a credit card and photo ID; the card is verified with a one-time charge that is refunded, and registration is approved once the documents are processed.
- Reserves: every lot has a reserve, the seller's agreed minimum. Bidding may open below it, and a lot that does not reach it goes unsold.
- Buyer's premium: winning bidders pay a buyer's commission.
- Before the sale: consigned lots cannot be bought ahead of auction day, but private sales are available for buyers looking for specific pieces.
