eBay Motors
eBay Motors is eBay's marketplace for vehicles, parts and accessories. Vehicles can be listed as auctions, at a fixed Buy It Now price, or with Best Offer, and new vehicles are also offered through local dealers that partner with eBay.
How buying works
- Bids on vehicles are non-binding, unlike most eBay categories, but eBay rules still require buyers and sellers to follow through in good faith. Bids of $25,000 or more need a valid credit card.
- Deposits: on auctions eligible for Secure Purchase, the deposit is charged as soon as you win. It is at least 1% of the price for vehicles at $1,000 or more and is held until checkout is complete.
- Payment: most used-vehicle purchases are completed through Secure Checkout, which shows a full cost breakdown first.
- Pickup and shipping: usually arranged and paid for by the buyer.
Good to know
- Vehicle Purchase Protection is included in most vehicle purchases and covers certain fraud-related losses up to $100,000 or the purchase price, whichever is lower.
- eBay recommends an in-person or third-party inspection; many listings include an AutoCheck history report.
