CrankyApe
CrankyApe is a Minnesota-based online auction company that remarkets bank-repossessed units, insurance repairables and consignments. Its listings cover RVs, trailers, motorcycles, trucks, vans and SUVs, and watercraft. Units sit at its own lots, which include sites in Minnesota, Arizona, Texas, Indiana and Georgia.
How buying works
- Registration: bidders must be at least 18 and give a credit card at sign-up. Some units are marked for licensed dealers only.
- Costs: the winning bid plus a transaction fee, documentation fee, sales tax and title transfer fees. Card payments carry a 4% surcharge.
- Payment: due within three days of the auction closing, by cash or wire transfer; personal checks are not accepted.
- Pickup: buyers have 14 days from the auction end to collect a unit, after which storage is charged at $25 per day.
Good to know
- Everything is sold as is with no refunds, and year, make, model and odometer readings are not guaranteed. Inspections are mainly visual.
- Units sold with only a UCC filing and bill of sale can take 3 to 6 months to title, and a bonded title may be needed.
