CIA Industrial
CIA Industrial, founded in 1961 as Cincinnati Industrial Auctioneers, is a family-run auction and appraisal company in Cincinnati, Ohio, serving industrial businesses nationwide. It sells machinery and equipment from plant closures, business closures and owner retirements, such as metal fabrication and CNC machines, injection molding, lab equipment, forklifts and trucks.
How buying works
- Auctions are live webcasts or timed online sales. Online bidders register for each auction on BidSpotter, and CIA emails any extra requirements before approval.
- Onsite bidding is offered only at some live webcast auctions.
- A buyer's premium is added to the hammer price; the FAQ's example uses 18%, plus any sales tax. Buyers with a Federal Tax ID can claim a resale or manufacturing exemption.
- Payment is by wire, ACH, cash, company or personal check with ID, or cashier's check. Credit cards are not accepted.
- Items are sold as is, where is. Buyers handle removal after the sale, and removal with powered equipment requires a liability insurance certificate.
Good to know
- Some lots are subject to confirmation, giving the owner 24 to 48 hours to accept, reject or counter the high bid.
