Bonhams
Bonhams is an auction house with salerooms in several countries. Upcoming lots are listed on its website, its app and in printed catalogues, and viewing days are held before every auction so buyers can see items in person.
How buying works
- Registering: bidders create an account and are approved before bidding; individual and corporate bidders supply different documents.
- Ways to bid: in person, online, by telephone or with an absentee bid. Telephone bidding is arranged with a location-specific form, requires ID from first-time bidders and is not offered for online-only auctions; leaving a backup absentee bid is recommended.
- Fees: the buyer's premium and other charges differ by country and by auction, and the hammer price does not include them.
- After the sale: telephone bidders are emailed an invoice within a few hours of the auction ending. Payment, collection and shipping arrangements depend on the saleroom.
