BiddingForGood
BiddingForGood is an online auction platform used by organizations to run their own auctions. Bidders can bid on items, buy some items outright with Buy It Now, and buy event tickets. Each auction is run by the hosting organization, which processes payments and closes out items. Public auctions are listed for browsing; private auctions are invitation-only.
How buying works
- Registration: anyone can browse, but bidding or buying tickets requires an account with a credit card on file.
- Bidding: a maximum bid lets the system bid in increments up to that limit, and the winner pays only the final winning amount.
- Payment: auction items are charged after the auction closes and the organization processes payments, usually within a few days; Buy It Now and ticket purchases are charged at checkout. Major cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.
- Receipts and taxes: receipts and donation letters come from the hosting organization. Items won are generally not tax-deductible because the bidder receives something of value.
