How buying works
- Registration: online bidders give contact details and a requested credit limit; first-time bidders also provide a passport, ID card or driver's license.
- Buyer's premium: depends on where the sale is held. Geneva sales charge 26% up to CHF 1,000,000, falling to 20% and then 15% on higher amounts; U.S. sales charge 25% up to USD 1,000,000 with the same lower tiers.
- Payment: Geneva sales are due within 7 days, by wire, card (2% fee) or limited cash.
- Collection: lots are released only after full payment, at the Geneva or Hong Kong office or by shipping at the buyer's expense. The buyer pays import VAT and duties.
