Alexander Historical Auctions
Alexander Historical Auctions is an auction house for historic autographs, documents, manuscripts and photographs, in continuous operation since 1991 with its office in Elkton, Maryland. Its sales also include militaria from many conflicts, such as uniforms, insignia, medals and edged weapons, and personal relics of notable figures.
How buying works
- Ways to bid: auctions are live, with bidding online through the company's site or third-party platforms, by phone through an agent, in person at the Elkton office, or by absentee bid. New online bidders register at least 24 hours before the sale.
- Buyer's premium: 25% on lots bought directly, plus applicable sales tax; lots won through third-party platforms carry a higher premium.
- Payment is due on receipt of the invoice. Credit card and PayPal payments carry a 3% processing fee, and bank transfers are for $750 or more.
- Shipping is a courtesy service, typically 14 to 28 business days, with signature confirmation. Firearms are sold only within the U.S. and go through a licensed FFL dealer.
Good to know
- Autographs are guaranteed genuine for the life of the original buyer; other items for 21 days, under a two-authenticator process.
